Family Law and Traffic Questions | FAQ

What should I collect before a family law consultation?

Bring a short timeline, existing court orders, any signed agreements, and the papers you have received. For financial questions, organize income records, recurring expenses, debts and an outline of property. Ask which additional documents are relevant to your particular situation.

How can I prepare for a traffic consultation?

Keep your summons and note the court, hearing date, cited statute and alleged speed. Write down your recollection of the event while it is fresh. Do not assume that advice about another person's charge applies to your summons.

Is an uncontested divorce the same as having no paperwork?

No. Agreement on the issues does not remove the need to establish the applicable grounds and follow the court's procedure. Use the uncontested divorce preparation guide to organize questions about dates, agreements and required filings.

Where can I check the speed rule discussed here?

The current rule is available directly in Virginia Code § 46.2-862. The reckless driving page explains the speed thresholds and consultation preparation.

Are the original office details confirmed current?

No. The contact page identifies details found in the original files. Confirm the recipient, location, availability and fee arrangements before making plans.

Does using this site create a lawyer-client relationship?

No. Reading information or sending an initial inquiry does not by itself establish representation. Discuss the scope of assistance and engagement arrangements directly with the lawyer.
